Jardim da Estrela
Green Space
Also known as Jardim Guerra Junqueiro, this charming green space built in the 19th century, is the perfect place for a ride.
Situated opposite the Basilica da Estrela, it is a garden built in the style of the English gardens, with romantic design, surrounded by an iron railing and with very diverse vegetation. The bandstand is one of the central points of the garden, built in the 19th century, in green wrought iron, which is used by some musicians in the summer months.
When it was created, Jardim da Estrela was one of the great Lisbon attractions. It housed kiosks, greenhouses, a replica of a Chinese pavilion, and even housed a lion, earning it the "Lion of the Star" and attracting hundreds of visitors daily.
At present, the garden has four lakes, where it is possible to accompany the ducks, swans and geese. Keep an eye on the walk of the peacocks that with their colourful colours frequent this garden. If you are wandering around with the little ones, you will certainly love playing in the playgrounds here.
