Jardim Botânico Tropical
Green Space
When you enter this pleasant retreat, you will feel like you are entering a rainforest. This garden is full of tropical species, from palm trees to dragon trees native to the Canary Islands and Madeira.
Take a moment to contemplate Macao's garden, which seeks to recreate the ambiance of Asian gardens with narrow rails, unevenness and water games and where the emblematic bamboos predominate. The entrance is marked by an arch that mimics the entrance of the Barra Pagoda in Macau.
In this garden there are more than 600 species of exotic plants and trees from various tropical regions of the world, covering more than 5 hectares of land. The garden was created for the Exhibition of the Portuguese World in 1940 as a way to show the tropical species of the distant colonies of Portugal around the world. Peacocks and ducks exhibit their feathers and the scent of cinnamon and cacao trees fills the air.
