Mercado da Ribeira - Time Out Market
Place of Interest
Also known as the Mercado 24 de Julho, this vibrant spot has been the main market in Lisbon since 1892. It was closed down for a while but in 2014 it was taken over by Time Out magazine and several more stalls offering traditional local products and foods were added. It was the first market project of its kind by Time Out and the aim of the market’s designers was to gather all of the best fine dining and street food in Lisbon all under one roof.
The market now features some of the finest restaurants in Lisbon, as well as chocolatiers, ice cream stalls and seafood. Visit with an empty stomach, as there are so many gems to discover here. Doesn’t miss Confraria, which is a sushi place that has excellent lime nigiri and Honorato, a cool and laid back burger restaurant.
