Feira da Ladra
Place of Interest
Lisbon’s famous flea market has been in the same location since the 12th Century - a long history of trading goods in a compact network of little stalls that has now overflowed into the surrounding streets and squares.
You can find a dazzling array of items for sale here, from CDs to books to clothes to antiques to furniture to stamps to hand-made artisanal goods and much more. Some of it is a little bit strange - but you can find quite a few gems if you look close enough.
Your best bet is to arrive as early in the morning as possible, so that you will have first pick of the treasures for sale. If you find something you are interested in, don’t be afraid to haggle - it’s part of the flea market experience. The market has a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and the vendors will greet you with a smile.
