Casa Museu Medeiros & Almeida

Museum

Located on Rua Rosa Araújo, Casa Museu Medeiros e Almeida is a must-see in Lisbon. This unique house bought by Doctor António de Medeiros e Almeida, who dedicated himself to business and passion for art, became a museum. The collections started as personal decoration. Today, there are twenty-seven rooms where you can admire Portuguese and international artworks, from furniture, painting, sculpture, goldsmithery, jewellery, sacred art and textiles.

Enjoy the four collections there: 1- Clocks, 225 clocks arranged chronologically since the 16th century; 2- Chinese porcelain, in prehistoric terracotta from the Han Dynasty; 3- Portuguese silver from the 16th/17th century; 4- Fans. The collection, in addition to artistic value, also has historical importance. Nowadays, the house comprises two distinct areas: the Old Wing, formerly inhabited and preserved, and the New Wing, which added rooms with reconstructed environments. The museum has an art shop, as well.

Open Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm. The general price is €5 per pax. Free on Saturday morning.
