Parque Eduardo VII

Green Space

One of the main parks in Lisbon, the Parque Eduardo VII dates back to the 19th century. This large urban oasis was known as the Parque da Liberdade originally, but it is currently named after King Edward VII of the United Kingdom - who visited Portugal in 1902.

This expansive green space has wonderful views down towards central Lisbon and the River Tagus. The park is the setting for the annual bookseller’s fair, as well as many concerts and exhibitions throughout the year.

Within the park you will find a cafe, a pond and a monument to the April 25th Revolution by the Portuguese sculptor João Cutileiro. There are also several greenhouses where cacti and other exotic plants are grown and a Baroque-style pavilion decorated with gorgeous white and blue tiles.
